Volunteer HEART Award – Back for year #2
This award recognizes community VOLUNTEERS who positively contribute to the development and growth of children and youth through participation in visual arts, music, dance, drama/theatre, cultural art, recreational and competitive sports, lessons, drop-in programs and clubs. Last year, the inaugural awards were presented to Kathy Peterson (Thunder Bay Thunderbolts) and Bill Graham (YBC Bowling). Two award recipients will each receive a $450 grant for their organization. The awards will be presented on Monday, June 15 in the evening.
This year, the award has been divided into two categories; one for volunteers who have been giving back for less than 15 years and one for those who are long-standing at 15 years or more of service.Let us know who you want to nominate by June 11, 2026 by completing the nomination form you can find here:
Charity Coordinator, Ashlyn, is pictured with Linda and Carol from the Kiwanis Club of Westfort, celebrating the incredible $42,309.90 in charitable gaming funds received through volunteering at Superior Shores Gaming Bingos from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
These funds help support important programs and services in our community, and we are grateful for every volunteer who helps make this possible.
A huge thank you to Superior Shores Gaming Association for distributing a record-breaking $2,522,513.49 to 83 member charities this year! Together, we are making a difference in the lives of children, youth, and families across our region.
